New Worlds is the third solo album by British singer/songwriter Charlotte Hatherley, released on 16 October 2009. Like previous album The Deep Blue, it was released on Hatherley's own Little Sister label in the UK and Minty Fresh in the US. "White" and "Alexander" were released as singles in 2009. Charlotte Franklin Hatherley (born 20 June 1979) is an English singer, songwriter, musician and guitarist. She initially came to prominence as guitarist and backing vocalist for alternative rock band Ash. Since leaving Ash in 2006, she has pursued a solo career and also acted as a touring instrumentalist for Bryan Ferry, KT Tunstall, Bat for Lashes and Birdy. Hatherley has also been a touring member of NZCA Lines and is currently musical director for South African artist Nakhane.

At this point in her career, Charlotte Hatherley is still best known for playing in other people's bands. She was a guitarist in Ash from her late teens through her mid-twenties, toured as a bassist for Client, and spent half of 2009 traveling the world as a member of Bat for Lashes. Hatherley's third album, New Worlds, is her first to be formally released and promoted in the United States, and it is her most self-assured record to date. It's also the most lyrically focused, with nearly every track describing experiences and emotions in terms of color metaphors. Other songs, such as the lead single, "White", are more concerned with attaining a focused awareness of the self within a physical environment, and acknowledging how color, texture, and other physical stimuli shape our emotional responses.
