Michael Jackson's This Is It (or simply This Is It) is a posthumous two-disc soundtrack album by American singer Michael Jackson. Released by MJJ Music on October 26, 2009, This Is It features previously released music, as well as six previously unreleased recordings by Michael Jackson. This Is It was released to coincide with the theatrical release of Michael Jackson's This Is It, a concert film documenting Michael Jackson's rehearsals for the This Is It concert series at the O2 Arena in London.

This Is It was designed as a comeback tour, not a movie, with the rehearsals taped not for exhibition, but rather instruction, possibly some video bonus down the line. Of course, Michael Jackson's tragic passing created considerable demand for those final rehearsals (no need to get into the financial need, as well), so they were packaged as the This Is It film, released almost five months after his death, with a soundtrack as an accompaniment.

The Jackson Brothers vocals are clearly recent, as is the orchestral treatment (tacked on). The original song (a 1983 duet with Anka) was titled I Never Heard ; the Jackson estate have simply scoured his back catalogue to find a song containing the 3 words this is it”: The song was picked because the lyrics were appropriate because of the name Michael gave his tour. The second disc is the main selling point. The demos are the most interesting thing about this release, as they offer a real insight into Jackson’s creative process, generally kept behind closed doors. Planet Earth was originally printed in the sleeve notes of Dangerous, but the poem penned by Jackson is now on record. It’s three minutes of child-like filler, but the ending is a neat trick. The album closes with a quintessential Michael Jackson one-liner: With all my heart, I love you. The world has unrequited love for Michael Jackson. One that will never fade.

After Michael Jackson's death, his brothers found a demo of Michael Jackson's version of the song, described as a "bare bone" recording. They added their voices and instruments into the background of the track. Two versions of "This Is It" were added to the album; the original and an orchestra version that is over one minute longer. The second disc consists of four unreleased versions of Michael Jackson's classic hits. The title track, "This Is It", earned Michael Jackson a Grammy Nomination in 2011 for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance at the 53rd Annual Grammy Awards.
