Description

Michael Jackson's Humanitarian Mission, in his own words. It's not something that I'm trying to use as a vehicle to launch a single or an album. It's something that's directly from my heart.

1988 На экраны выходит музыкальный фильм Лунная походка, имевший успех в прокате и заработавший 67 миллионов долларов.

2009 Скончался 25 июня 2009 года в результате передозировки лекарственных препаратов.

The Ultimate Collection is a box set by American recording artist Michael Jackson. It was released on November 16, 2004 by Epic Records and consists of four audio CDs and one DVD. The album sold 57,000 copies in 2004 only, and on May 16, 2013, it was certified Gold as a multi-disk package by Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) for physical shipments of 100,000 copies; its certification was then upgraded to Platinum, signifying shipments of 200,000 copies, in the same date.

At the time of Dangerous, Michael Jackson's universal popularity was on par with pizza and the polio vaccine. It was the last time that Michael Jackson was Michael Jackson. On the night of November 14, 1991, 500 million people scattered across 27 nations simultaneously watched Michael Jackson grab his crotch 17 times. He simulated masturbation, shattered car windows with crowbars, and unleashed the primal screams expected from a man who owned publishing rights to the Beatles catalogue. Then he turned into a black panther. It shattered all previous viewing records on Fox.

There are several Michael Jackson greatest-hits compilations out there, each one its own take on what should be the definitive portrait of the gloved one's career. The Ultimate Collection, The Essential Collection (different from the one here), and Number Ones have all surfaced in 2003 and 2004, and HIStory a few years prior. Each one of these collections, while commendable in its attempt to thoroughly document Jackson's accomplishments, has fallen woefully short in one aspect or another.

Michael Jackson couldn’t read or write music. However, Jackson could hear and compose songs, including their arrangements, in his head. Then what he would do was sing every note of every instrument to a top team of engineers and producers who would work on the tracks. Rob Hoffman, sound engineer, described the process: One morning MJ came in with a new song he had written overnight.

Posthumous albums are nothing new these days, but Jacko's is odder than most, says Alexis Petridis. There is, of course, nothing odd about the posthumous album. Their manner of production has been set in stone ever since the premature rock and pop corpses started piling up in the 60s: cobble together some outtakes, demos and incomplete tracks, tinker with them until they sound finished, present to the public. But "there is, of course, nothing odd about" is a phrase seldom used in conjunction with the late Michael Jackson: 18 months after his death, the World of Wacko can still be relied upon to bring the weird.

Earth Song offers Jackson at his most fragile. The environmentalist is brought to the fore, and from a musical perspective, this is a very affecting track, with some of Jackson’s best vocal work. Human Nature is another heartfelt ballad, showcasing the softer tones of his voice. Devoid of the overblown backing, Jackson can focus on the emotion of the song. Thriller resets the focus as the ultimate Halloween song, and one which inspired one of the best videos of all time. The hits stack up, with Beat It taking over the reins.
