Carl Nielsen is especially admired for his six symphonies, his Wind Quintet and his concertos for violin, flute and clarinet. Nielsen composed a number of chamber music works, some of them still high on the international repertoire.

Nielsen composed most of his wind chamber music towards the latter part of his career, when his interests moved from strings to wind instruments.
