Johnson, and the legendary Art Tatum, to whom many have tried to compare Peterson in later years. Oscar Peterson (1925-2007) was a Canadian jazz pianist and composer.

Clark Terry was an important fixture in Count Basie's bands before leaving to join Duke Ellington in the '50s. He played swing as well as bop, and his versatility kept him in great demand. In Montreux Jazz Festival, Vol. 7, Terry and Count Basie perform a program of jazz that includes the songs "Pennies From Heaven," "Montreux Blues I," "Minor Blues," "Billie's Bounce," and "Lester Leaps I.
