Clannad in Concert is the fourth album by Irish folk group Clannad. It is their first live album, taken from a 1978 concert while on tour in Switzerland and was released in 1979. It was during this tour that the group decided to go professional. The LP came in a gatefold cover and early copies of the Irish issue included a large poster. A bootleg was released as Ring of Gold). Bean an Tí (Ó Bhean An Tí)" – 3:00. Fairies Hornpipe/Off to California" – 3:20. A Neansaí Mhíle Grá" – 4:45.
Clannad is the debut album by Irish folk group Clannad. It was released in 1973 by Philips Ireland. It was reissued in 1982 under the name The Pretty Maid. In 1997, it was released on CD for the first time by Royal Records International again under the name Clannad, with a bonus track from 1975. The album features songs in both Irish Gaelic and English, including a cover version of Bonnie Dobson's "Morning Dew", as well as many traditional Irish songs. All tracks Traditional; except where indicated.
With "Magical Ring", CLANNAD opened their arms wide to technology, and harnessed a symbiotic blend of the ancient and the modern. It also includes one of the most stunning album openers of any era, "Theme from Harry's Game", from a 1982 British mini series. Whatever you are doing when the proverbial stylus tentatively reaches its first grooves, "Harry's Game" has more than enough dynamic gentility to stop you in your tracks
Clannad’s follow-up album Clannad 2 showed a band really finding its feet and not scared of singing in Irish despite the mainstream’s reluctance to do so. The album retains a traditional Irish folk atheistic whilst being deemed quite experimental for their times. The band’s big break came in 1982 when the band signed with RCA Records and was asked if they’d like to create a song for the British mini-series Harry’s Game. The result was the single Theme from Harry’s Game which remains the only hit single in the UK to be sung entirely in Irish Gaelic.
