Description

This album is obviously a follow on from 'This Binary Universe', but you can hear echoes of 'ESCM' throughout, and perhaps a dash of 'Movement In Still Life' here and there, in particular on track 5. I quite enjoyed listening to this; there was a real chillout vibe that I felt, like I was being taken away to an exotic, far away place.

harks back to his first album, Ima, which was a bit slower and more laid back than later works. It also has some similarities to "This Binary Universe". Overall, this is a more up-beat and (in places) up-tempo work than This Binary Universe and hangs together a bit better. It's more trancey than jazzy.

Now playing: Queen Bohemian Rhapsody. Let Me Love You Let Me Love You. Радио Мята - The Hits Channel. Alphaville Big In Japan.

Inspired by him sitting at home during the winter watching his Christmas lights twinkle, Hymn unhurriedly constructs point and counterpoint, building melody while samples fade in and out, until a dub-inspired beat comes in and grants a sense of urgency and desperation to this otherwise tranquil and stunning tune.

I feel that BT has a knack for making music that 'penetrates' the listener, in which you're not just hearing sound in your ears, but you feel like it's subtlety going through your skin, and that has most certainly been achieved here. Few artists make me feel this way. If you're a fan of BT's ambient works, or just BT in general, this will be a welcome edition into anyone's collection.
