This is a celebration and a tribute. Each song has it’s own story and is a soundtrack to that story. This is our 3rd album and our first instrumental album. And here we are now, with Departure Songs still being the standard that others are judged against. Somber, crushing, soaring, ethereal, this album has all of the moods. I love the earlier albums, but I must say the instrumental is WLTS's strong suite.

We Lost the Sea are an instrumental post-metal band from Sydney, Australia. The band was originally formed by friends from multiple bands that had dissolved in 2007 from the outer west Sydney suburb of Campbelltown, NSW. The current line up is composed of Mark Owen, Matt Harvey, Nathaniel D'Ugo, Mathew Kelly and Kieran Elliott. Their third album Departure Songs gained them widespread acclaim within the post-rock and metal scenes around the world.

The day it was discovered that vocalist Chris Torpy had sadly taken his own life was the day I discovered this band. A cruel twist of events brought me into the world of post-metal and since that day I hadn't found anything in the genre as compelling as The Quietest Place on Earth. Thankfully that wasn't the case and after more than two very long-feeling years, we have an album that is as much a solemn tribute as it is a musical triumph.
