This is a video I made for the album version of "The Man With The Child In His Eyes".
The Man with the Child in His Eyes" is a song by Kate Bush. It is the fifth track on her debut album The Kick Inside and was released as her second single, on the EMI label, in 1978. Bush wrote the song when she was 13 and recorded it at the age of 16. It was recorded at AIR Studios, London, in June 1975 under the guidance of David Gilmour.
The second single to be released from Kate Bush’s ground-breaking album THE KICK INSIDE (1978). Bush wrote the song when she was 13 years old and recorded at 16 under Dave Gilmour’s guidance. It peaked at on the UK charts. The song tells of a relationship between a young girl and an older man. She sees him as an all consuming figure; he’s wise yet retains a certain innocent quality. It was revealed in September 2010 that this song was written about Steve Blacknell, Bush’s first boyfriend. Blacknell told The Daily Mail September 24, 2010: By the spring of 1975 she had become my first true love. All I really knew about her was that she wrote songs, played the piano and lived in a lovely house with an equally lovely family. Blacknell was working, at the time, as a toilet cleaner in a local hospital, but was planning a career in the music industry.

Song written by Kate Bush, released on her debut album The Kick Inside. It was recorded at Air Studios, London in June 1975 under the guidance of David Gilmour. She has said that recording with a large orchestra at that age terrified her. The song received the Ivor Novello Award for "Outstanding British Lyric" in 1979. The inspiration for 'The Man With the Child in His Eyes' was really just a particular thing that happened when I went to the piano. The piano just started speaking to me. It was a theory that I had had for a while that I just observed in most of the men that I know: the fact that they just are little boys inside and how wonderful it is that they manage to retain this magic.
I hear him Before I go to sleep And focus on the day that's been I realize he's there When I turn the light off And turn over Nobody knows about my man They think he's lost on some horizon And suddenly I find myself listening To a man I've never known before Telling me about the sea Oh. his love is to eternity. Ooh he's here again The man with the child in his eyes Ooh he's here again The man with the child in his eyes. He's very understanding and he's so Aware of all my situations When I stay up late He's always with me What I feel when I hesitate.
