It doesn't have "Different Drum," but the first Stone Poneys album is their folkiest and best, dominated by close harmonies and strong original material by the group's guitarists, Bob Kimmel and Ken Edwards.

The Stone Poneys is the debut studio album by the Stone Poneys; other than an early single of "So Fine" that was produced by Mike Curb in 1965, this album marks the first official recordings by Linda Ronstadt. Whether intended or not, the front cover photo appears to show the band as a more modern version of Peter, Paul and Mary with several of the songs sung in the same three-part harmony.
Finger Cymbals – Linda Marie Ronstadt. Liner Notes – Jerry Hopkins. Producer – Nick Venet.

The band broke up recording their third album, leaving Ronstadt to finish it with session-men. Highlights included covers of Nesmith's 'Some of Shelly's Blues', Laura Nyro's 'Stoney End' and Tim Buckley's 'Hobo' - added here as bonus tracks - which gave an indication of the country-rock direction Ronstadt would pursue as part of her enormously successful solo career into the 1970s. With detailed liner notes, period images and superb audio quality.
The Stone Poneys performed material mostly written together by Edwards and Kimmel, bolstered by Ronstadt’s strident vocals and their strong three-part harmonies. They would, nevertheless, enjoy their best success towards the end of 1967 with a cover, of Michael Nesmith’s ‘Different Drum . This time, inevitably, it was titled The Stone Poneys featuring Linda Ronstadt. The Stone Poneys can be bought here.
Greatest Hits (Linda Ronstadt album). Greatest Hits was Linda Ronstadt's first major compilation album, released at the end of 1976 for the holiday shopping season.
While ostensibly a Stone Poneys album, Vol. III represents a transition and a shift in focus from the first two releases by the band, formed in 1965 as a harmony group with Ronstadt as an occasional soloist, to the singer's solo career.
