Metal Latinoamericano, Metal from Latinoamerica. BIO. Colemesis has been praised as one of the pioneering metal bands in Costa Rica, in fact considered among the best acts in Central America. Their style has been described as Death/Thrash combined with occasional autochthonous local sounds and rhythms. Thanks to the success of their firsts demos the band was able to develop a growing base of followers in the underground worldwide scene, which has exponentially increased as the band has expanded their career.

Postbiosis, the band’s second demo tape, scores pretty low in intensity and scope. It lacks the bottom-heavy sound that gives a death metal band that complementary weight. It seems the band tried hard to write some songs with an immediate hook, and there is something within them that could appeal to more grind-loving ears. On the other hand, the bass seems to be buried deep in the mix. If the bassist wrote killer bass lines, they won’t be heard anywhere. Even though these flaws affect the sound recorded for this demo, the Colemesis dudes’ musical approach was different from that of their country fellows. Regarding the drumming, there are two or three things to underline.
