Punk: Classic 45s. Demon 45003.
Classic 45s: Punk (Vinyl). Punk shook the music industry to its foundations in the mid to late seventies, rejecting the excesses of mainstream rock and introducing energy, passion, and a DIY ethic. Often political and anti-establishment as well as aggressive and rebellious, Punk was a youth culture which re-invigorated music. The ten specially selected double AA side 7 singles in this box present twenty of the most varied and exciting tracks spanning those crucial few years. It’s nearly forty years since many of these tracks appeared on vinyl so it is inevitably very difficult to find mint copies.
Punk rock started in 1976 on New York’s Bowery, when four cretins from Queens came up with a mutant strain of blitzkrieg bubblegum. They also stretch out into jazz noodling and folkie picking, along with Creedence Clearwater Revival, Steely Dan and Van Halen covers.
Housed in a hard slipcase, the ten 7" singles are 'dinked' as juke-box singles and the box includes a 'spider' centre for play.

Various – Mod Classic 45s. Label: Demon Records – CLASSIC45004. Country: UK & Europe.
Soft Boys – Underwater Moonlight (1980) Today it’s hard to understand how the lightly psychedelic pop-rock of the Soft Boys was ever considered anything close to punk. 41. The Raincoats – The Raincoats (1979) If the prototype for post-punk is a bunch of British art students in the late ‘70s forming a garage band that incorporates dub beats and an odd collection of world music instruments, then Raincoats are the most post-punk band of all time.
