Daughter of Time is the fourth album by Colosseum, released in 1970. The album remained for five weeks in the UK Albums Chart peaking number 23. Recorded in the midst of an upheaval in the band's lineup, only one of its eight tracks, "Three Score and Ten, Amen", features all six of the official band members.

On rear cover title is incorrectly listed as 'Valentine Suite' (also track 5, with no sub-tracks listed), track 8 as 'Take Me Back To Doomesday' and bonus track 13 is listed as 'Foyer Of Fun'. Other Versions (1 of 1) View All. Cat.

Colosseum's second album, also in 1969, was Valentyne Suite, notable as the first release from Vertigo Records, the first label to sign heavy metal pioneers Black Sabbath. Vertigo Records was a branch of Philips, established to sign and develop artists that did not fit the main Philips Records brand. Mark Clarke then replaced Tony Reeves on bass, and Hiseman recruited vocalist Chris Farlowe to enable Clempson to concentrate on guitar. This is considered to be the definitive Colosseum line-up, which recorded the 1970 album Daughter of Time.

The pioneering English progressive jazz-rock band Colosseum recorded their fourth album Daughter of Time in the midst of an upheaval in the band's line-up. War plays a central role on the concept album based on a man's fascination for all what war brings to the world. The different instruments combined creating a brilliant and versatile musical world. It's a is a very different album from its predecessor Valentyne Suite. Their new singer Chris Farlow brought a powerful voice to the immense quality of their classical and chamber jazz.

This album was actually not recommended by my colleague proggers because according to them, this one is not as powerful as Valentyne Suite or Live albums. But for the sake of having a complete set of Colosseum album, I bought it anyway. To my surprise, the music of this album is truly meeting my taste and I can see that the musical quality of this album is at par excellent as the band's Valentyne Suite. In general, the music is so classic where I can hear may styles of seventies sounds blending the classic rock style, jazz, as well as blues.

This third album, Daughter of Time, contains those same elements, but the resulting record is a hybrid musical (civil) civil war, with new vocalist Chris Farlowe leading the charge with his overly dramatic delivery. That’s not necessarily a bad thing. But it’s just an opinion.
