Amidst live stints playing with Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker and opening for TV On the Radio, Kirin J Callinan has been busy since the release of his debut album Embracism. The Teacher is Callinan’s first single from his second record, due in 2016, soaked with the sort of melancholic ache you get when you ose drink an entire liquor store’s inventory and subsequently think that a noose is your best friend. Callinan channels his pain wonderfully, though, and his brooding vocals shine alongside dark pianos and horns.

The video to Kirin’s The Teacher, the latest single from his forthcoming second album, has Callinan and his friend collaborator and sometime tour partner Mockasin, cheekily mocking some poor teacher. Like a cross between Summer Bay High and a Kenny G piece, the video has Mockasin playing some smooth sax while a school-uniformed Callinan taunts, Out of bounds, Behind the cricket nets, You caught me with my pants down, And you found My cigarettes.
