Freewheelin’ is the first Dylan album where you can tell he was going to be someone incredible. Another Side of Bob Dylan (1964). When I was 18, I used to drive to my local public library and check out 25 CDs - the most allowed under the library’s rules - and copy them to my computer’s hard drive, in a quest to have all of the music I’d read about in record guides and music books and on the early days of the music writing. This is probably cheating based on the parameters I outlined above; this is probably the 6th most commonly owned Dylan album amongst people with turntables who also like Dylan; it’s double LP price can ward off casual Dylanologists. That said, this one - critically acclaimed, considered Dylan’s last masterwork not called Blood on the Tracks - still feels like it has tons of territory to uncover and enjoy, 50 years after it came out.

Bob Dylan's 1974 album, Blood on the Tracks, reminded the world that Dylan was a songwriter without peer. On his next album, he decided to experiment by taking on a co-writer, theater director Jacques Levy. While the songs on Blood on the Tracks were highly personal, these new songs were largely about characters, both real and imagined. Joey" is an 11-minute tribute to the New York mobster Joey Gallo, while "Hurricane" passionately argues that the boxer Rubin "Hurricane" Carter was falsely convicted of murder.

Bob Dylan is the debut studio album by American singer-songwriter Bob Dylan, released on March 19, 1962 by Columbia Records. Produced by Columbia's legendary talent scout John H. Hammond, who signed Dylan to the label, the album features folk standards, plus two original compositions, "Talkin' New York" and "Song to Woody".
After a debut album that included only two original compositions, Bob Dylan effectively launched his singer/songwriter career from here. He still used traditional folk melodies but now he added his own unbelievably mature, prophetic and wise beyond his years lyrics. The cultural impact of this album simply cannot be overstated. Dylan lays it down and announces with this second album that he was indeed here to stay. The best was yet to come but this album still holds some of the greatest songs in Dylan's entire discography, Blowin' In The Wind, Masters Of War, A Hard Rain's Gonna Fall, Don't Think Twice, It's All Right, all classics. Protest songs, love songs, folk songs, or just singing the blues, the material on The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan remains amongst the most astonishing ever recorded by an artist who was still aged just 23.
The album that started my love of Dylan's music. So many amazing lyrics. Visions of Johanna, I Want You, Just Like A Woman, Rainy Day Women His two best songs are Like a Rolling Stone and Desolation Row, but his best complete album, is Blonde on Blonde. I think Dylan is one of the most excellent people involved in music ever, and Blonde on Blonde is his masterpiece. My favourite Bob Dylan album. The most underrated of Dylan's albums. A work of dazzling emotional complexity. I can almost hear the low voices talking around me and glasses clanking, and smell the smokey haze of cigarettes. Far, far better than the ultra bland Time Out Of Mind if you only consider the "comeback" records.
