Judas Priest has 43,311 members. note Redeemer of Souls is the seventeenth studio album It is their first album without founding guitarist K. K. Downing, who quit the band in 2011 and was replaced by new guitarist Richie Faulkner.
Judas Priest had arrived and a still developing metal scene had its gods-in-waiting. In most walks of life a bunch of men mostly in their late 60s (and a 38-year old whippersnapper in ‘new’ guitarist Richie Faulkner) would be more likely to be found pottering round a garden centre than forging one of the year’s best metal albums. Preceding Iron Maiden’s Piece Of Mind by a year, Screaming For Vengeance did more than any other album to take metal to the masses. Maiden actually supported Priest on their US World Vengeance Tour, during which pure heavy metal first exploded into arenas. By the turn of the ’80s Judas Priest were already veterans but they gate-crashed the NWOBHM party like cool older cousins who could bring the booze. Fittingly, British Steel boasted the ultimate party song in Living After Midnight.
Under the name Iron Priest, 'Riding on the Powerslave' uses the voice of Iron Maiden's Bruce Dickinson from 'Powerslave' and lays it on top of the instrumental section of Judas Priest's 'Riding on the Wind. Judas Priest vocalist Rob Halford even drops in sporadically to harmonize with Dickinson. The video combines live footage of both Maiden and Priest, delivering classic performances delivered in one tight-knit clip. Watch 'Riding on the Powerslave' in the video player above! The Best Of Judas Priest: Living After Midnight is a compilation album of Judas Priest's hits, dating from their 1978 album Killing Machine (Hell Bent for Leather in the United States) through Painkiller (1990). This album was released in 1997. In 2009 the album was reported to have sold 564,000 copies in the United States. In the booklet, the band lists its entire Sony/Columbia discography.
Unquestionably Judas Priest's best album of the 70's. It's where they defined their general sound and atmosphere, mixing the unrelenting instrumental attack of Stained Class with the Halford-centric British Steel. All classics from beginning to end. And zero filler. This was my first Judas Priest Album. It was so unique and powerful. The Dueling guitars changed my life. My friends thought they had 2 singers in the band.
