King in concert in Deauville, 1989. Original album and alternate reissues. Peak chart positions.
In the lead-up to that breakthrough, on 22 April 1969, King started his first-ever UK tour. Then 43, his studio album Lucille was on release and the revered in-concert set Live & Well was soon to emerge. To make the occasion even more special, the tour’s opening date that night, and King’s British debut, was at the Royal Albert Hall, and . s special guests, for the whole itinerary, were one of the hottest blues crossover acts of the era: Fleetwood Mac.
King tour dates and concert history (1968 – 2014). Hard to believe BB King is still touring at 88. There has been a lot of negativity surrounding BB king shows of over that last couple of years, with many critics claiming his advisors are taking advantage of the situation at the expensive of a legend reputation. To put it simply, they are unwilling to ‘kill’ such a cash cow.
Highly influential guitarist with a precise yet effortless sounding soft-fingered style, as well as the longest career in blues.
The 1964 in Concert album Live at the Regal is now regarded as a true classic and further increased King’s growing international fame. Indeed, King’s live performances are legendary and, at his peak, he regularly performed over 300 nights a year. King was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and was also presented with a Lifetime Achievement Award at the Grammys.
