The Bridges to Babylon Tour was another huge jaunt for The rolling Stones, starting in Chicago, in September 1997, and ending a year later in Istanbul. How Heart’s Self-Titled Eighth Album Got The Blood Pumping. The Story Behind Louis Armstrong’s ‘Wonderful World’. I came up with the ‘Bridges’ idea and a friend of mine came up with the ‘Babylon’ thing. The bridge to the B-stage worked perfectly most nights, except when it was too cold or too hot, and then it had to be sort of manually got together. The Rolling Stones’ Bridges To Babylon tour was announced in a press conference held underneath the Brooklyn Bridge in New York City, and began on 9 September 1997 with a warm up show in Toronto, Canada, followed by another at The Double Door in Chicago.
Bridges to Babylon Tour. Tour by The Rolling Stones. 23 September 1997 (1997-09-23). The Rolling Stones were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1989, Rolling Stone magazine ranked them fourth on the 100 Greatest Artists of All Time list and their estimated album sales are.
Another record, another tour, another live album chronicling the whole shebang. The Rolling Stones have followed this basic pattern since the early '80s - if Keith had been able to get Mick out on the road to support Dirty Work, there damn well would have been a live record in 1987 - stepping up the production rate in the '90s, eventually winding their way to No Security, a document of. the Bridges to Babylon tour of 1997-1998
