Peak Impressions (1967). Album by The Freeborne. Hurtin' Kind of Woman.

Side one ends with the album’s masterpiece, Peak Impressions & Thoughts, a song with an absolutely relentless beat and chord progression, mind-melting lyrics and keyboards that build in intensity until they’re all over your room. Side two is kind of a let-down, by comparison. Like all of the other choices for this session (except The Smoke), the Freeborne get definite points because they just plain don’t sound like anybody else. And side one is a completely solid listen.

Exclusively for Prime members. Sample this album Artist (Sample). A truly unique album from The Freeborne, Peak Impressions is perhaps one of the best psych LP's to come out of the "Bosstown Sound" in Massachusetts. Originally released on Monitor in 1967, this should be known as one of the better releases from that area. These groups got panned by critics and were labeled as San Francisco ripoffs, being that San Fran was the pop music mecca then.

The Freeborne's sole album is, in common with the mildly better-known '60s Boston psychedelic bands who comprised the Bosstown Sound, something of a goulash of then-trendy underground rock crosscurrents. It's not quite a ghoulish goulash, but it's not too tasty either, though they come up with some nice minor-key vocal harmonies.

I concur with music-emporium! Absolutely one of THE BEST psych LPs from the USA. Young talented guys with organ/keys as the predominant instrument, guitar, and haunting vocals with great songwriting too. 1967-68 dark psych era.
