Music video for Jack White’s new single Connected by Love from the forthcoming album BOARDING HOUSE REACH

Connected by Love opens with ping-ponging synths, leading into its muted, woozy first verse, then an organ-backed, upbeat chorus. Woman, don’t you know what I’m suffering from? White sings, beseeching his lover, Ease my pain, make it wash down with the rain. White has teased that the album, the follow-up to 2014’s Lazaretto, will be bizarre, claiming that it makes good gardening music or roofing music or, you know, back-alley stabbing music.

The solo discography of American rock musician, singer, songwriter, and record producer Jack White consists of three studio albums, three live albums, one compilation album, and fifteen singles. Prior to releasing solo records, White recorded albums with several bands, including the White Stripes, the Raconteurs, and the Dead Weather. Throughout his career, he has also produced the works of many other artists and made guest appearances on albums.

On Wednesday, Jack White released Connected by Love, the blistering first single from his upcoming new album Boarding House Reach. The song is a woozy plea for forgiveness from a lover who has burned all his bridges. Recorded with musicians who regularly play in the hip-hop world, Connected by Love sounds more modern than his previous solo material, albeit with a psychedelic edge.

Jack White premiered his new song Connected by Love on Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 radio show today, his first new music since December’s collage Servings and Portions From My Boarding House Reach. White also released a video for the song. In addition to Connected by Love, White also released the B-side Respect Commander. Both tracks will appear on his upcoming third solo album Boarding House Reach, which he’s previously referred to as back-alley stabbing music.
