naked city performing in new york with yamatsuka eye more than singing.
Naked City is an album by John Zorn, originally released on Nonesuch Records in 1990. The band which would become known under the same name included Zorn on alto saxophone with Bill Frisell on guitar, Wayne Horvitz on keyboards, Fred Frith on bass and Joey Baron on drums, and was established in 1988 as a "compositional workshop" to test the limitations of a rock band format. The album was rereleased as part of the box set Naked City: The Complete Studio Recordings on Zorn's Tzadik label in 2005.
Naked City (LP, Album). Apparently some need this to be personally christened by zorn himself with whatever lies under his couch cushions mixed into the vinyl press for it to be worthy release. This is a very good sounding record. People get to be so obsessed with fidelty, mastering, source material I wonder are they even able to appreciate the music for what it is, music?

Bon Jovi It's My Life.
Black Box is a compilation album by John Zorn's band Naked City featuring Yamatsuka Eye on vocals. The album is a collection of the "hardcore miniatures" from Naked City and Grand Guignol that were originally released on Torture Garden in 1990 and the extended piece Leng Tch'e which was only released in Japan in 1992. This compilation was released on Tzadik Records in 1996. Disc One: "Blood is Thin" – 1:00. Demon Sanctuary" – 0:38. Thrash Jazz Assassin" – 0:45.
But even if you do not walk away from this record humming any memorable melodies or even recalling any of the individual punches that comprised your lf-minute long beat-down, just remember: That is part of what makes this such a genius, innovative, and unique-sounding effort. As such, it should definitely be considered a definite listen for all open-minded music fans, and purveyors of jazz, avant-garde metal, and grindcore. Easily the most fun John Zorn album I have ever heard, the band tackles different styles with ease and can easily move around each with even greater ease. And when Naked City is soft, unleashed, leashed, mysterious (you'd think that from the Chinatown theme song), fun, jazzy, you name it!!!
Saxophonist John Zorn, a man with ties to the free jazz community, cartoon and film buffs, developed a love for the revolution of Ornette Coleman and hard core music. His band Naked City defined an era in jazz, inviting a new generation of listeners to call themselves jazz fans and fueling the reactionary conservative response to his downtown sounds as anti-jazz and blasphemy. Why we had to choose between Marsalis and Zorn no one knows. Packaged together here are the 120 tracks from the album Naked City and the hard-to-find releases on Japan's Toy Factory and Avant labels: Torture Garden, Heretic, Grand Guignol, Leng Tch'e, Radio, and Absinthe.
It's noisy and insane yet catchy, and will appeal to those who wouldn't usually listen to jazz. You would only be party right. There is grindcore here, but there aren’t many genres Zorn doesn’t explore in ’Naked City’. Mostly the album is full of short, quirky and catchy jazz songs which twist and turn in unpredictable ways. Mike Patton himself once said ‘Naked City makes all other bands look fat and lazy’, which sums them up pretty well. It’s hardly a dark album either as the cover implies. Even when it’s at it’s noisiest it still keeps it’s humour.
