Stuart Moxham's first post 'Young Marble Giants' album is a mixed experience. It was however featured in some shit american film, and was a hit on the continent after it was covered by an identikit french chanteuse
The Gist lasted for only one album, Embrace the Herd, which Moxham has often dismissed as misguided and negatively influenced by clinical depression, excessive indulgence in marijuana, and no idea of where to go next. None of his unkind words have kept fans of early twee and the early, anything-goes days of post-punk from declaring it a lost classic. Course, neither camp is being objective about it and the actual album ends up firmly between the two, just as incoherent and interesting as you've heard.
Tracks 13 & 14 previously unreleased; Track 15 is a demo version; Track 16 from the B side of the 7" single Love At First Sight.
Embrace is the debut record and the only release by the American post-hardcore band Embrace. The album, released by Dischord Records, consists of songs composed and performed in the context of Washington, . s 1985 Revolution Summer by one of its mainstay acts. Although recorded between November 1985 and February 1986, the album would not be released until 1987, after the demise of that social movement and the dissolution of the band.
