Alison Statton (vocals) and Spike Williams (violin, viola, guitar) were founder members of the band Weekend, formed in 1981 after the split of celebrated low-fi electronica pioneers Young Marble Giants. Between 1991 and 1997 they released the EP 'Weekend in Wales' and two studio albums, 'Tidal Blues' and 'The Shady Tree'.
