Tom Talbert Jazz Orchestra 1946-1949. Tom Talbert has long been a fixture in Los Angeles, writing arrangements, recording albums, and occasionally appearing with his big band in local clubs. He is known for recording one classic set in the 1950s (Bix Fats Duke, which has been reissued by the Modern Concepts label), but even veteran collectors can be forgiven for not being familiar with the historic recordings that are on his Sea Breeze CD, since the majority of these valuable performances were previously unissued

Arranger Thomas Talbert had not recorded as a leader in over 20 years when he had a rare opportunity to document his California band. Half of the music on this Sea Breeze CD is the five-song "Louisiana Suite" which pays tribute to aspects of the state but does not hint at New Orleans jazz. Talbert also performs six of his shorter originals; his 14-piece band consists of four woodwinds, a french horn, four trumpets, two trombones and a rhythm section
