The follow up to the Mercury-nominated and Ivor Novello Award winning debut, Becoming a Jackal, was written by Villagers’ Conor O’Brien and was produced and mixed in Ireland by Conor with bandmate Tommy McLaughlin

Villagers are passive mobs that inhabit villages, work at their professions, breed, and interact. Their clothing varies according to their occupation and biome. A player can trade with villagers, using emeralds as currency. Villagers spawn in the houses with beds of their villages, which spawn in several biomes such as plains, snowy tundras, savannas, deserts, taigas, and snowy taiga.

Released on 14th January 2013, {Awayland} is the follow up to the Mercury-nominated and Ivor Novello Award winning debut, Becoming a Jackal, was written by Villagers’ Conor O’Brien and was produced and mixed in Ireland by Conor with bandmate Tommy McLaughlin. A special limited 10 x 10 fabric cover hardback book with silver foil print, contains the album on CD with an exclusive DVD featuring five live performances by Villagers recorded in their studio in Donegal, Ireland.

Villagers struck quite a note with their self-contained, well-written debut Becoming A Jackal. He could quite easily have lived off the indie folk crowd, fond of lyrical wit and vulnerability (I mean, just listen to any of Bright Eye’s songs), but the group, now much more than simply a platform for frontman Conor O’Brien, have gone in a very different direction indeed with {Awayland}. Despite its wonderful development later in the record, the album does stumble somewhat fairly early on.
