At The Drive In - Omar absolutely shreds Enfilade! .
The band released their fourth studio album, in,ter a,li,a, in 2017. At the Drive In headlined the Neon Desert Music Festival in 2018 in El Paso, Texas . Second reunion and in,ter a,li,a (2015–2018). Hiatus (2018–present). At the drive-In was founded in 1994 by guitarist Jim Ward and vocalist Cedric Bixler-Zavala. The newly formed band played its first live show on October 15, 1994 at the Loretto High School Fair in El Paso, Texas. Not long after, At the Drive-In released its first studio recording entitled Hell Paso, a 7-inch EP issued in November 1994. Following Hell Paso’s release, the band members embarked on their first tour – a 2,000-mile trek across the state of Texas. After a drummer change, At the Drive-In released its second EP ¡Alfaro Vive, Carajo! in June 1995.
On their first album in 17 years, the post-hardcore band comes exploding back with dutiful performances and familiarly obtuse lyrics, but the overall impact of their style has waned. But just as often, there’s the sense that time has diminished that power, and much like the vanished hyphen in their name and the replacement of Jim Ward with another member of Sparta, the subtractions are as subtle as they are undeniable.
in,ter a,li,a (CD, Album, Dig). Rise Records (3), BMG, Hostess Entertainment Unlimited. I received a somewhat bowed pressing of this album. Side A was bowed downward slightly in a way that reduced contact with the record platter so that when I would use my vinyl brush it would easily stop the record from spinning due to the lack of surface contact.
in·ter a·li·a is the fourth studio album from At The Drive In, and was released on May 5, 2017 through Rise Records. It is also their first studio album in 17 years, following the 2001’s Relationship of Command. All original members except Jim Ward would return for the album. Ward’s spot would be filled by former Sparta guitarist, Keeley Davis. In an interview, frontman, Cedric Bixler-Zavala described how the album was a reaction to the times regarding the 2016 .
in,ter a,li,a is the fourth and final studio album by At the Drive-In, released on May 5, 2017. It is their first studio album in 17 years since Relationship of Command, and their first release since the 2005 compilation album This Station Is Non-Operational.
At the Drive In have found themselves in an uncannily similar position as Swedish outfit Refused. Both are extremely revered post-hardcore acts who teetered on the brink of mainstream popularity at the dawn of the new millennia with albums that have since been considered landmarks of the genre; for Refused, it was 1998’s The Shape of Punk to Come and for ATDI, it was 2000’s Relationship Command. Each effort featured respective anthems - New Noise on the former, One Armed Scissor on the latter. Much like Refused and their comeback album Freedom, At the Drive In’s in,ter a,li,a is sure to be polarizing in terms of fans' reception. It'll be considered either too nostalgic or not pushing the envelope into uncharted territory sufficiently, coming down to preference at the end of the day.
Album by At the Drive-In. No Wolf Like the Present. Tilting at the Univendor. Governed by Contagions. Pendulum in a Peasant Dress. Torrentially Cutshaw.
makes u think), it is their most cohesive work to date. This comes at the expense of stand-out tracks - there’s nothing as bone-rattling as Arcarsenal, as thrilling as Napoleon Solo, no lyrics as direct and honest as so who’s in charge in here, ‘cos I’d really like to meet him - but finally we have something like a mission statement. And the last five tracks! Miraculous!
