Harpers Bizarre was an American sunshine pop band of the 1960s, best known for their Broadway/sunshine pop sound and their cover of Simon & Garfunkel's "The 59th Street Bridge Song (Feelin' Groovy). Harpers Bizarre was formed out of the Tikis, a band from Santa Cruz, California, that had some local successes with Beatlesque songs in the mid 1960s. The Tikis had been signed to Tom Donahue's Autumn Records from 1965 to 1966 and had released two singles on that label.

Leon Russell might have been reluctant to return to his pop music roots when producer Lenny Waronker invited him to sit in the arranger’s chair for Harpers Bizarre’s 1967 debut album. Harpers Bizarre was then born. In Simon and Garfunkel’s original version, the song is casual (almost tossed-off), low-key and completely charming. Another key member of the Harpers team was Van Dyke Parks, whose Come to the Sunshine was selected to open the album.

Come to the sunshine Hang your ups and downs you come to the sunshine Come to the sunshine You know I know you know that I love you. Weather here could not be finer It suits to sail off Carolina shore I'll tell you more and moreover Cotton threads to keep me cool In the sun-swept afterglow I know I'm a fool But I'm hoping that you'll be Mine in time. Harpers Bizarre - Bye, Bye, Bye. Harpers Bizarre - Knock on Wood. Harpers Bizarre - Small Talk.
