Description

WIP wasn't playing this in 1967, but by the early '70s they had "updated" their sound to include softer rock and played this as an "oldie

It gave producer Lenny Waronker (and Harpers Bizarre member Ted Templeman, who became a producer himself and helped with the vocal arrangements) some experience, but it's way too twee to make for meaningful music. Perhaps you can hear a wee bit of the kind of . pop/rock-schmaltz dished out by Randy Newman (whom Waronker would produce), Nilsson, and Van Dyke Parks at times, but in a much dumbed-down fashion.

As Time Goes By is an album by Harpers Bizarre, released in 1976. This reunion release of the group does not include former member Ted Templeman. Dick Scoppettone used several pseudonyms for his original songs (Gene Bob Smith, Misha Mack, Jack Van Gleason, Lord John, Joseph Bocci). Cowboy" (Gene Bob Smith). As Time Goes By" (Herman Hupfeld). Down at Papa Joe's" (Jerry Dean Smith). Every Night" (Paul McCartney). Society Strut" (Misha Mack, Jack Van Gleason).

Harpers Bizarre was an American sunshine pop band of the 1960s, best known for their Broadway/sunshine pop sound and their remake of Simon & Garfunkel's "The 59th Street Bridge Song (Feelin' Groovy). Harpers Bizarre was formed out of the Tikis, a band from Santa Cruz, California, that had some local successes with Beatlesque songs in the mid 1960s. The Tikis had been signed to Tom Donahue's Autumn Records from 1965 to 1966 and had released two singles on that label.

WIP wasn't playing this in 1967, but by the early '70s they had "updated" their sound to include softer rock and played this as an "oldie. It's really is an oldie, but it goes all the way back to the '20s. Enjoy this while you can-I'm sure it's only a matter of time before Warner discovers it and decides to pull it. Show more.
