The Seventh Seal is the third solo studio album by American rapper Rakim. Considered a comeback album after a ten-year gap between releases, the album features the singles "Holy Are You," which was released on July 14, 2009, and "Walk These Streets" which was released on October. Then in 2007, Rakim decided to record completely new songs for the album. In an interview with Billboard on July 13, 2009, when asked about if this album contains any material from the unreleased album he did with Dr. Dre, he stated "No, that's locked down in the lab for now. This is me live from New York City, everything brand ne.

With much-delayed third solo album The Seventh Seal arriving a full decade after the New Yorker’s last, though, the quandary is perplexing: stick to a perfected formula and risk irrelevance or run the gauntlet of updating his sound and lose the original magic. For the most part, The Seventh Seal lands between those two posts. It was near inevitable that the album would endure a lengthy gestation after initial aborted sessions with Dr Dre – long-reigning king of hip hop production – taking an eternity to reach any state of completion.

The long-anticipated third album from Rakim took a decade to arrive, but rabid fans should be warned that this is not a case of ten years in the making. Nothing here is over two years old, so none of the unreleased Dr. Dre tracks fans have hoped for are included, but chances are they wouldn’t have fit. With most songs focusing on the chorus, The Seventh Seal strives to connect with a 2009 audience and enlists vocalists like Maino plus producers like Nottz, Needlz, and Jake One to get the job done.

This cd was why I signed up and made an account. Been listening to Rap my whole life, this cd is absolutely fire, from production, to lyrics, to concept- could not be more polished. This album made me go back, and really take a listen to Rakim further...regardless, this is a testament of the truth. God bless you all.

I have an actual CD version, not CD-R. No listing for it though and I'm too lazy to create one.

Seven Up is far better than Sprite. But then again, a submarine sees far more salty water than a tangerine dream.

It's strange but this CD was released as a CDr inside the digipack case. I think it's a corny thing to save money on CD pressing and sell CDr to fans.
