Creation is a 2015 live album by American pianist and composer Keith Jarrett. Music was selected and sequenced by Keith Jarrett from his improvised solo concerts in Japan, Canada, and Europe in April–July 2014.

The other is Creation, a solo piano offering. While Jarrett has made dozens of solo records, this is unlike any in his catalog. Rather than document the unfolding of his in-the-moment ideas through a single performance, this set features nine sections compiled from half-a-dozen performances in four cities and five venues (all notated in the sleeve) during 2014. They have been sequenced and produced by Jarrett as a new, episodic, single work.

Hymns/Spheres, Keith Jarrett’s celebrated 1976 encounter with the Trinity organ of Ottobeuren’s Benedictine abbey, is at last released in 24bit Studio-Master quality as a double-album set remastered from the original analog tapes. No overdubs or technical ornamentations were utilized, only the pure sound of the organ in the abbey is heard. The pure sound, as channelled by the mind, hands, and feet of one of the great improvisers of the age. When Hymns/Spheres was first released in 1976, some critics made comparisons with the organ music of Ligeti, Messiaen and Reger, but time has shown.

With Creation, however, Jarrett eschews all such predictable constructs with a program that's largely dark and brooding, heavily based on chordal constructs and sparse melodies, and the absolute antithesis of overt virtuosity. even though only a pianist with the kind of exceptional mastery of his instrument as Jarrett could create a suite such as this-a suite, impeccably mastered, where the dynamics. It's moments such as these-moments of unerring beauty, where Jarrett proves capable still of drawing song form from nowhere-that ought to make even the most jaded Jarrett fan realize that, with Creation, his best years are far from behind him- recorded, as these five performances were, within the past 12 months.
