This Ain't a Scene, It's an Arms Race" is a song by American rock band Fall Out Boy and the second single from their commercially successful third studio album Infinity on High (2007). The song officially debuted on November 21 at the American Music Awards and was shipped to radio stations that night (with an impact date of December 5 in the United States).

The band considered other songs on the album to be more radio-friendly, especially considering the hit producer Babyface’s contribution to two of them, but chose to release This Ain’t a Scene, It’s an Arm’s Race first because it had the right message. The song topped the now-defunct Billboard Pop Songs chart, peaked at on the Hot 100, and finished up 2007 at overall. It was certified Platinum by the RIAA. On top of this massive domestic success, it was an international hit that gave the band newfound exposure to several different countries  . kind of a tongue-in-cheek look at the way we are so addicted and obsessed with new arts, cultures and loves - to the point where it just becomes oversaturate. .I think people are gonna read into it what they will.

It’s got one of the all-time great intros from any track ever. The whole band is going at the beginning and it just keeps going up and up and up, and then it just goes into the track. It gives you a real, tangible lift. The song has this incredibly light touch – I associate these light, bouncy grooves with summer. Sweet Female Attitude: Flowers, 2000. For me the track sounds like London culture: barbecues on council estates, people having a good time in the sun. It has this airy vibe, it’s a feel-good song.
