Sloan Wainwright (born 1957) is an American artist and member of the American independent music scene. Her musical style consists of a combination of folk, rock, jazz, and blues, an approach which owes itself to her time writing and performing throughout Greenwich Village. Sloan Wainwright is the daughter of Loudon Wainwright Jr. and Martha Taylor.

In 1970, Loudon Wainwright III (or Album 1, as it is also referred to) was a promising debut of a newly arrived songwriter, they all agreed. This kind of accolade earned him a spot at many a folk festival, but at the same time he would be criticized for not writing politically enough. On his first album, the content is still largely poetic. From the beautifully depressing "Hospital Lady" and "Central Square Song" to the uplifting protest song "Uptown," this is a songwriter at an early stage in his career and determined to make a difference.

Defying standard categorization, singer/songwriter Sloan Wainwright, consistently demonstrates her easy command of a variety of American musical styles - pop, folk, jazz and blues - held together by the melodious tone of her rich contralto, with the end result being a unique and soulful hybrid. Her family tree (brother and folk-music luminary Loudon Wainwright, nephew Rufus Wainwright, nieces Martha Wainwright and Lucy Wainwright Roche) reads like a who’s who of contemporary folk music.

Sunshine on a Rainy Day" is a 1990 single released by British female pop singer and songwriter Zoë. The song was originally released at the end of 1990, when it only managed to reach on the UK Singles Chart. It was not until the remix by Youth in August 1991 that it hit on the same chart and became her biggest hit to date. The track was used in UK advertisements for the Amiga 500 computer, which added to its popularity.
