Only for completionists (3%). This album came out in 1976 when a lot of other fusion musicians had sold out and started producing "fuzak", but not Cobham. This album is just as innovative and energetic as anything that came out in the early 70s. For Cobham, this is a small band, but an extremely talented one. Doug Rauch and George Duke in particular.

Life & Times is a fusion music album recording by BILLY COBHAM released in 1976 on CD, LP/Vinyl and/or cassette. BILLY COBHAM - Life & Times. Filed under Fusion By BILLY COBHAM.

Spectrum is the debut solo album by jazz fusion drummer Billy Cobham. The album was heavily influenced by the music of Miles Davis, with whom Cobham had previously collaborated extensively, and Cobham's previous band Mahavishnu Orchestra. The song "Stratus" appears in the video game Grand Theft Auto IV of the radio station "Fusion FM", as well as being the main sample in the Massive Attack hit "Safe from Harm".

Dennis Chambers, Billy Cobham, Trace Elements. Billy Cobham Spectrum 40. Billy Cobham.

Cobham was still exploring various funk patterns, as evidenced on "Life and Times" and "East Ba. "29" contains some inspired playing by Doug Rauch, while "Earthlings" is the most intense piece here led by Cobham's thunderous double bass shuffle. Scofield's performance more than makes up for this session dated sound.
