Masters at Work is the garage house production and remix team of "Little" Louie Vega and Kenny "Dope" Gonzalez. They first worked together using the name in 1990. Gonzalez had initially given the name to mutual friend Todd Terry, who recorded several tracks under that name during the 1980s. The duo has produced music together under the names MAW, KenLou, Sole Fusion, Hardrive, and Nuyorican Soul.
Their name says it all – Masters At Work. For over a decade, "Little Louie Vega and Kenny "Dope" Gonzalez have shepherded dance music down new paths with their inventive production style and imaginative feel for different musical forms. The two native New Yorkers have amassed an overwhelming body of work in that time, one that includes hundreds of original productions, remixes and side projects, redefining the way we think of music in clubs. Vega and Gonzalez defiantly mix everything they can find – house, hip-hop, funk, disco, Latin, African and jazz – into a universal groove. Vega and Gonzalez composed, produced and arranged the album's ten songs, using crafty studio work and live instrumentation and help from some regular collaborators (India, Roy Ayers) and a few special guests (Patti Austin, James Ingram, Stephanie Mills).
The Soul Sessions Vol. 2 is the sixth studio album by English singer and songwriter Joss Stone, released on 20 July 2012 by S-Curve Records and her own label, Stone'd Records. A follow-up to Stone's debut studio album, The Soul Sessions (2003), the album consists of 11 cover versions of soul songs from the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s, in addition to a cover of Broken Bells' 2009 song "The High Road".
Masters At Work (MAW) - the ground-breaking project of Louie Vega and Kenny Dope – created a musical legacy that will last forever. MAW took the distinct and already highly praised production aesthetic of the two, and fused it with their encyclopaedic knowledge of breaks, hip-hop, disco, soul and funk.
