The Majors scored an R&B/pop Top 30 hit in 1962 with "A Wonderful Dream. They are remembered for their outrageous falsetto lead vocals (often criticized for them) and for being one of the many acts produced.

The Majors had their roots in a harmony group called the Premiers. Upon recording their first single, "Lundee Dundee", for Rocal Records in 1960, they changed their name to the Versatiles. The next time the group entered the studio was in 1962 for the Ragovoy-produced tracks for Imperial Records. During 1963, they recorded eight singles for the label, as well as one album. The group resurfaced with a single on ABC-Paramount in 1966, under the name the Performers. They toured throughout the 60s but split by the end of that decade. The Majors formed in 1961, but one would never know that from this record, which sounds straight out of the '50s. The nine anemic, thankfully brief tracks feature horrendous falsetto lead vocals. Producer Jerry Ragovoy went on to produce some fine sides for Garnett Mims and others, but missed the boat this time.

Agent Leland Hayward represented both Rogers and Wilder, who asked him to intercede with her on his behalf, and Brackett also urged her to meet the neophyte director. She agreed, and she and the screenwriters met during the filming of Roxie Hart. They pitched the film during lunch at an Italian restaurant, and Rogers later recalled Wilder "was charming, a European gentleman.

Smash, the band’s second album for Epitaph and third overall, was released on April 8, 1994, in the waning days of grunge. For a brief moment it seemed as if the sound of buzzsaw guitars, caffeinated rhythms and tweaked, anxious vocals would inherit the aggro-rock earth, and the Offspring – singer/guitarist Brian Dexter Holland, lead guitarist Kevin Noodles Wasserman, bassist Greg K. and drummer Ron Welty (who left the band in 2003) – were on the front lines, leading the charge. And we had to meet this incredible demand. We had Offspring records filling my entire building on Santa Monica Blvd. from the floor to the ceiling. They all went to majors. But we were trying hard to keep this thing going. We tried to work it out for, like, a year-and-a-half or two years.
