Solid Silver is the eighth album by American psychedelic rock band Quicksilver Messenger Service and their mid-1970s comeback album, reuniting the band's entire core lineup. Though the album charted slightly higher than their previous two releases, briefly denting the Top 100 on the Billboard 200, this would be the last Quicksilver album until Gary Duncan resurrected the Quicksilver name in 1986 with the album Peace by Piece and again in the 1990s with several albums.

This was Quicksilver Messenger Service's first album, although they had already produced two songs for the soundtrack of the 1968 movie Revolution. The album displays the group's jam sound amidst lighter pop-oriented songs. Unlike contemporaries such as the Grateful Dead, Quicksilver's jams were highly planned as can be heard by comparing the studio versions of songs with those from bootleg live performances. Dino's Song" was written by Dino Valenti who was at that time in prison due to marijuana-related offenses.

The band continued with the lineup of Gary Duncan, Greg Elmore, Dino Valenti and David Freiberg until September 1971 when Freiberg was jailed for marijuana possession. He was replaced by Mark Ryan (bass) and the group added Mark Naftalin (aka "Chuck Steaks") on keyboards, and this lineup recorded two more albums, Quicksilver (Nov. 1971) and Comin' Thru (Apr. 1972), a mere 36 minute album with "Doin' Time in the USA," as the album's most familiar cut. The group disbanded shortly after the recording of the latter album
