The Marblehead Messenger is the third album by the band Seatrain, recorded in 1971. As with Seatrain's previous album, it was produced by George Martin. Gramercy" (Kulberg, Roberts) 2:59. Seatrain is the second album by the band Seatrain, recorded in 1970 and adding Peter Rowan on guitar and lead vocals. It was the first record produced by George Martin after his work with The Beatles. The most successful song on this album is "13 Questions", which reached in the Billboard charts. I'm Willing" (Lowell George) 3:32. Book of Job" (Kulberg, Roberts) 6:04.
Marblehead Messenger, while better played and sung, didn't have the appeal that their previous effort seemed to. But it is much more of a band effort, and the tunes are well worth seeking out and enjoying. A forgotten jewel of its time.

Seatrain - Seatrain, Marblehead Messenger. Imported ed. Import, Remastered. Caveat: I have not listened to Marblehead Messenger yet. But so far, the Seatrain S/T album has been underwhelming. I was turned on to this band by the excellent Robb Spewak music show on Iowa City's 1630 KCJJ many moons ago, when he played 13 Questions on one of his shows. The song immediately captivated me and I added the CD set to my wish list after finding out that this is about the only place to get the album. So far, the rest of the songs have been "meh" but maybe I've just been in the wrong mindset.
