Dream Theater began their mammoth "A Dramatic Tour Of Events" world trek in July 2011 with the final leg in South America taking place in August 2012. It was here at the Luna Park arena in Buenos Aires, Argentina that they decided to film the two nights that go to make up this release.

Live At Luna Park was filmed over two nights in South America - home to one of Dream Theater's most ardent fanbases. The DVD was filmed after a 15-month world tour, hitting 35 countries. Live at Luna Park is the 7th live album and video by American progressive metal band Dream Theater, released on November 5, 2013 through Eagle Rock Entertainment. The concert film was produced by Over The Edge Productions and directed by Mike Leonard.

Live at Luna Park is a concert document from Dream Theater's 2012 A Dramatic Turn of Events tour. The video and music were recorded over two nights at Argentina's famed Luna Park soccer stadium in Buenos Aires at the end of the South American leg of the jaunt. The tour was significant not only because the record was such a critical and commercial success, but also because it was band's first offering - and tour - with drummer Mike Mangini, who'd replaced Mike Portnoy. The sound quality is pristine, but the spontaneity and dynamics are showcased beautifully on both audio and video. Despite the fact that all of the drum parts for A Dramatic Turn of Events were scripted before the recording sessions, Mangini is able to improvise on them in the live setting, and put his own mark on the older material as well.
