Back to the Light is the first solo album by Queen guitarist Brian May released on 28 September 1992 in the UK and on 2 February 1993 in the United States and Canada. The album contains the Top 10 singles "Too Much Love Will Kill You" and "Driven by You". The album was recorded between 1988 and 1992 at the Allerton Hill Studios and mixed at the Metropolis Studios. It is Brian May's second non-Queen album after 1983 Star Fleet Project.

While obviously sounding similar to some of the work by his former band, May's path is far more hard-edged and emotionally punched than the majority of Queen's work. The album succeeds best on its heaviest tracks such as the cover of "Rollin' Over" or "Resurrection," which features pounding drums courtesy of Cozy Powell and thundering guitar riffs with Queen-like multi-tracked vocals.

The Brian May Band was an English-American rock band formed by Queen guitarist Brian May. The band was originally formed in October 1991 for May's performance at Guitar Legends guitar festival in Seville, Spain. They toured with May to promote some of his studio albums. It was written as part of his 1992 solo album, Back to the Light. It was released as a single in late 1991, peaking at on the UK Singles Chart and on the US Mainstream Rock Tracks Chart. Queen are one of the few classic-rock bands in which all four members individually contributed to the songwriting process. As the legendary group's guitarist, Brian May was responsible for penning more of them than anyone else in the band besides singer Freddie Mercury. May wrote many of Queen's most popular songs (several of them were hit singles) over the years, which made it tough to compile our list of the Top 10 Brian May Queen Songs. 10. 'Hammer to Fall'. From: 'The Works' (1984)

Brian May: There were two occasions that inspired it. One I've spoken about a lot, which was at Bingley Hall where the audience sang every song and then we went off stage and they carried on singing and then they sang "You'll Never Walk Alone. The "Rock You" video is also notable because it looks like you filmed it in the frozen tundra, which looks miserable. They are consecutive to start the album and I thought it would work, though there were a bit of arguments : "Are radio stations even going to play a song with no drums?" I had a feeling it would work on radio.
