Shy Glow is an eclectic delight. Never holding onto one sound for too long, the album finds an interception between sample based and synthesised sounds to make instrumental pop music that is versatile enough to listen to on headphones as well as on the dancefloor. Describing their sound as coming from a "venn diagram of influences", Shy Glow is the direct product of an intersection of musical tastes gleaned from different sources. Wanting to experiment with a different sound, Doug and Russ brought some of their favourite Sydney musicians into the studio.

Sia's 1000 Forms Of Fear debuted at number one - largely because of her ridiculously catchy and clever "Chandelier. The Aussie has been semi-renowned in Australia for songs like "Buttons" – which btw has a crazy cool film clip – but this album saw her crash into the international market in a massive way. It's important to note that 1000 Forms Of Fear doesn't confine itself to pop hits, though, with guitar riffs throughout, and Sia's voice changing from the blasting chorus in "Chandelier" to the skatty, almost ska "Hostage.

Overall, Shy Glow lays out a really varied assortment of tracks. From instrumentals featuring distorted vocals, to Marcus Whale’s rapping, to chill-step dance tracks, there’s never a dull moment. Fishing have created a particular sub-genre of electronic music that is warm and welcoming to get into. Shy Glow is a strong debut, and it only serves to confirm their place in the Sydney-centric Australian non-EDM electronic music scene.
