Harry Nilsson - Son Of Schmilsson 1972 (Japanese issue/Full Album).
Nilsson Schmilsson is the seventh album by American singer Harry Nilsson, released by RCA Records in November 1971. It was Nilsson's most commercially successful work, producing three of his best-known songs. Among these was the number 1 hit "Without You", written by Pete Ham and Tom Evans of the group Badfinger. The album was the first of two Nilsson albums recorded in London and produced by Richard Perry.
Harry Nilsson had a hit, a Grammy, and critical success, yet he still didn't have a genuine blockbuster to his name when it came time to finally deliver a full-fledged follow-up to Nilsson Sings Newman, so he decided it was time to make that unabashed, mainstream pop/rock album. Hiring Barbra Streisand producer Richard Perry as a collaborator, Nilsson made a streamlined, slightly domesticated, unashamed set of mature pop/rock, with a slight twist.

on 1971's Schmilsson. He's still in his robe too, out of focus, unshaven, a hash pipe in his fingers. Harry wakes up, weary, but rouses quickly, showers, resigned to being late for the day's meetings. The pounding, detuned-bass rocker "Jump into the Fire" and the similarly belted and horn-blasted "Down" define Nilsson's harder take on this particular album (the former could still burn up dancefloors), although his stab at the golden oldie "Let the Good Times Roll" humorously weaves about, drunk on its own Bacchanalian clank of keys.

Nilsson Schmilsson was not only Harry Nilsson’s commercial breakthrough, it was the artist’s moment of emancipation. For years, Nilsson had labored at mannered, orchestrated pop music that was extraordinary but often seemed to stifle its author’s sense of mischief. Here for the first time Nilsson threw all caution to the wind and let loose his desires. Producer Richard Perry kept the sessions on track, and the performances are strengthened by a top-notch studio band, the core of which was cribbed from Nilsson’s pal John Lennon. In a wonderful twist of fortune, the album’s wild innovations paid off with commercial acceptance, and amazingly, Coconut, the album’s most bizarre track, became the best-loved hit of Nilsson’s career.
