East of the Sun, West of the Moon is the fourth studio album by Norwegian new wave band A-ha. It was released on 27 October 1990 by Warner Bros. Named after a Norwegian fairy tale, the album was something of a departure from the band's earlier radio-friendly sound to a darker, moodier tone. It peaked at number one in the band's native Norway and reached top 20 in various European countries and Japan. It was co-produced by Ian Stanley, formerly of the band Tears for Fears.

Named after a Norwegian fairy tale, "East/West", although it alienated some listeners at the time, it was a step in a different direction, and one of the band's artistic peaks. I have recently rediscovered my Love for a-ha and their awesome music. I only knew Hunting High and Low and Scoundrel days until I heard The Sun Always shines on TV in the car in early January and that inspired me to go looking on YouTube, Google, etc. Needless to say I was pleasantly surprised to find out that they did not, in fact fall off the face of the earth in the late 80's and have been making awesome music together and solo over all these years.
