It's really a one-minute joke, but it's possible to be affectionate about this record. Beset by legal hassles over a James Brown sample, the Justified Ancients of Muu-Muu (the JAMMS) created this record, following it by morphing into their ongoing identity as the KLF. It's really nothing more than "Rock and Roll, Part Two" merged with the Doctor Who theme music and some samples of Daleks yelling "Exterminate!," but it's a hoot. Various versions exist, a couple of them featuring yells and howls from Gary Glitter.
Album: released as a single (1988). Charted: 1 66. Get the Sheet Music License This Song. This song is based on the British TV show Doctor Who, and even the band's name is taken from the program. On the show, the Timelords are a race that can control time, and the Tardis is a time-traveling spacecraft. The lines 'We obey no one" and "We are the supreme beings" were taken from the Dr. Who episode "Genesis Of The Daleks. The "Doctorin' The Tardis" title was a play on words on Coldcut's 1988 hit "Doctorin' The House. The KLF duo thought it was a jolly amusing pun. More songs from The Timelords. More songs that use samples. More songs inspired by TV shows. More songs from 1988. Lyrics to Doctorin' The Tardis.
