This is the previously missing episode three of the William Hartnell story Galaxy 4. This episode was recovered in 2011 and will be released on 11th March.

Galaxy 4 (alternatively spelled Galaxy Four) is the mostly missing first serial of the third season in the British science fiction television series Doctor Who. It was first broadcast in four weekly parts from 11 September to 2 October 1965. Only the third episode ("Air Lock") is held in the BBC archives, and the other three remain missing.

Galaxy Four was a novelisation based on the 1965 television serial Galaxy 4. Following a skirmish in deep space, two alien spacecraft have crash landed on a barren planet in Galaxy Four. The book is a rare example of a later-period Target novelisation using a title different from that of the broadcast (the TV version uses Galaxy 4, whereas the book uses Galaxy Four); similarly, the TV episode title is spelled "Air Lock" but "Airlock" in the book.

Galaxy Four is perhaps the closest Doctor Who ever came to straight-up exploration science fiction, complete with doomed planet and rampant xenophobia. William Emms, novelising his own script, delves into the characters’ thoughts and so adds considerable depth to the on-screen action. When the Doctor arrives, he discovers that the planet will explode in two days' time. I grew up reading the Doctor Who Target books and so I thought it was about time I read another one for old times sake. Written by the man who wrote the original 1965 script for the TV show, this is one of the early William Hartnell adventures and one of the missing ones at that.
