Description

A stadium-filling star in the States but with zero profile over here, Kenny Chesney had no reason to trouble the pages of Hello magazine until his sudden micro-marriage to Renee Zellweger earlier this year. Since then the gossip columnists have been doing their best to sniff out the real reasons behind the split.

Kenny Chesney performing in the East Room of the White House on May 16, 2006, at the official dinner for Australian Prime Minister John Howard and Mrs. Janette Howard. In January 2005, Chesney released the album Be as You Are (Songs from an Old Blue Chair), supporting it with his Somewhere in the Sun Tour. Be as You Are is composed mostly of ballads. Chesney's next album, The Road and the Radio, produced five singles. Living in Fast Forward", "Summertime", and "Beer in Mexico" all reached number one, while "Who You'd Be Today" and "You Save Me" both broke the Top 5. Chesney promotes his beliefs of perfection, as getting songs right in the studio, ultimately leads to performing it right on the road and on the radio.

Yet when Hurricane Irma hit in 2017, the 50-year-old performer was one of many residents to lose his home to the storm. While it was devastating, the community's resilience helped inspire his upcoming 17th studio album, Songs for the Saints. So much has happened since I went off the road in 2016 and all of it, in one way or another, has ended up on this record," Chesney said in a press release. I was at a turning point in my life on so many levels, and then Hurricane Irma hit the Virgin Islands," he continued. Songs for the Saints is Chesney's follow-up to 2016's Cosmic Hallelujah. The 12-track album was co-produced with Buddy Cannon and is Chesney’s first release since signing to Warner Music Nashville.
