12x12 Original Remixes is a remix album by Talk Talk released initially in 1999 and again in 2001 with a new cover and artwork as Remixed. It contains the same songs as disc 1 of the earlier album Asides Besides. It is the band's third remix album, following It's My Mix from 1985 and the controversial History Revisited from 1991. The album cover is a collage of various images associated with the band's previous albums.

Like most compilations for the band, 12 X 12 Original Remixes' concentration on Talk Talk's new romantic baby steps belie where their career truly went. Overall, while 12 X 12 Original Remixes is much better than a jaded, label-hating fan might have guessed, it sadly - and probably most dangerously - seldom reminds a passerby that Talk Talk could ever have had an intuitive impact on bands like Sigur Rós or albums like Kid A almost a decade after the group's demise.

In the later days of disco (after the classic period of the Donna Summer and the Bee Gees), it was common to take New Wave music and electronically remix and extend it. These were sold as EP's, which were basically singles on a 12 inch record and played in discos. I became a late fan of Talking Heads starting with the Little Creatures album. I worked backwards and now I love the whole catalog. I was at first very skeptical with this release. However, after my first listening of this CD I was very happy I bought it. It contains all of the 12" mixes from their later singles (Little Creatures-True Stories-Naked). The remixes enhance all of the songs and makes them different from the originals.
