Only 20% of the material had been shot at this time, that's why it's a bit slow.

Grange Hill ended on Monday 15 September 2008 with a further return appearance by Todd Carty, in which Tucker persuaded his nephew Togger Johnson not to give up on school like he did. Other than that there would be no spectacular conclusion; characters simply walked out of the school gates after their end-of-term prom, an almost mirror-image of how pupils walked into the school gates in the very first episode. The three series saw the two lead characters (Tucker and Alan) finding work. The 1986 cast released Grange Hill: The Album, with two singles: "Just Say No" (tying in with a character's heroin addiction) and "You Know the Teacher (Smash Head)". The album was re-released on CD on 12 November 2007, as part of the BBC's 30th Anniversary celebrations. At Grange Hill aired, presented by Lee MacDonald.

The phrase "Just say no" was used in the 1980s on both sides of the Atlantic as a slogan to discourage the young from using or experimenting with drugs. I have the 2007 re-release on CD by Music Club, it's actually not a bad album, School Love is a nice song, Smash Head is dead funny. Reply Notify me 1 Helpful.
The actor who played Zammo in Grange Hill is back on TV screens this week, with a part in BBC soap EastEnders. Lee MacDonald played a schoolboy who became hooked on heroin in the 1980s; it was a gritty storyline for a children's drama, and made a huge impression on a whole generation of viewers.
Tucker Jenkins was THE Grange Hill hero, and Todd was given his own spin-off called Tucker's Luck for three years in the early 1980s. In 1990, he joined EastEnders as Mark Fowler, and stayed for 13 years. He later starred as a regular in The Bill, and gave us the most hilarious Dancing on Ice moment ever. Amanda made her debut in the third series of Grange Hill, and she has since gone on to star in a number of UK soaps and dramas over the years. Most famously, she has had a regular role as Connie in Holby City since 2004, and has also frequently appeared in sister show Casualty. 5. Lee Macdonald (Zammo). Aside from maybe Tucker, if you were going to remember one Grange Hill character, it's probably poor Zammo and his heartbreaking drugs storyline. After six years, Lee left the show and had one-off appearances in programmes such as The Bill and Birds of a Feather.
