Belle and Sebastian cut their first BBC session for the Mark Radcliffe Show in July of 1996 just a few months before their seminal If You're Feeling Sinister album was released. They also continued making trips to the BBC studios and The BBC Sessions collects songs recorded there between 1996 and 2001. The track list is made up of mostly album tracks and singles (highlights being an insistent "Sleep the Clock Around," a folky take on "Wrong Love," and a truly beautiful "Slow Graffiti") but the real treat for fans is the inclusion of the group's 2001 session for John Peel, for which they trotted out four songs that hadn't been.

The BBC Sessions is an album by Belle and Sebastian. It is a double album. The first disc (Radio Sessions) is a compilation of unreleased recordings recorded between 1996 and 2001, while the second (Live in Belfast) is a live recording from a concert in Belfast on 21 December 2001. The live album contains covers of "Here Comes the Sun", "I'm Waiting for the Man" and "The Boys are Back in Town". The tracks on the first album come from sessions with Mark Radcliffe, Steve Lamacq and John Peel.

It took a while, but Belle & Sebastian eventually performed on Peel's show three times: They cut previously unreleased songs at a session in 2001, added a five-song set at Peel Acres in 2002, and played a set heavy on holiday music later that same year. The first of these is included on The BBC Sessions in its entirety, alongside 10 of the 13 tracks the group performed for Mark Radcliffe and Steve Lamacq in 1996 and 1997.

Storytelling is the fifth studio album by Scottish indie pop band Belle and Sebastian. It is the score to the Todd Solondz movie Storytelling. Belle and Sebastian experienced many problems in communication with Solondz while scoring the film, and as such only about six minutes of their music was actually used in the movie. The album contains five tracks that are recorded dialogues
