Oscar "Papa" Celestin (January 1, 1884 in Napoleonville, Louisiana – December 15, 1954) was an American jazz bandleader, trumpeter, cornetist and vocalist. Celestin was born in Napoleonville, Louisiana, to a Creole family, son of a sugar-cane cutter. In his youth worked on rural Louisiana plantations. Eager for a better life, he worked as a cook for the Texas & Pacific Railroad, saved up money and bought used musical instruments.
Oscar "Papa" Celestin was a cornetist and the leader of New Orleans' the Original Tuxedo Orchestra from the 1920s until his death in 1954.

The Original Dixieland Jass Band (ODJB) was a Dixieland jazz band that made the first jazz recordings in early 1917. Their "Livery Stable Blues" became the first jazz record ever issued. The group composed and recorded many jazz standards, the most famous being. In late 1917 the spelling of the band's name was changed to Original Dixieland Jazz Band. The band consisted of five musicians who had played in the Papa Jack Laine bands. The soundtrack album to the 2011 Boardwalk Empire series on HBO includes performances of three songs recorded by the Original Dixieland Jazz Band: "Livery Stable Blues", "Mournin' the Blues", and "Margie", performed by Vince Giordano and the Nighthawks Orchestra
Papa Celestin's Golden Wedding. Papa Celestin's Golden Wedding is a studio album released by Papa Celestin and His New Orleans Band in 1955 on Southland 10-inch LP record S- LP 206. The album was released posthumously, consisting of the last recordings made by Celestin, who died on December 15, 1954. The recording sessions on this album were arranged by Southland Records' owner, Joe Mares.
