The boundaries are being stretched a little at boutique psych-pop label FdM with this release. Here we have four atmospheric, repetitive but distinct dreamscapes that have a beguiling simplicity to them, maintaining a consistent flow while shifting across distinctly different musical moods. It’s clearly experimental, hence appearing on FdM’s more challenging Strangefish imprint, but not to the degree that it’s unapproachable, and the flow of states that it describes seems to have a sense of purpose and direction to it, an Eno-esque journey of depth that demands to be played the whole way through and not dipped into.

Front man for the US neo-psych band The Soft Bombs, Michael Padilla, stretches his musical muscles by recording a full album of ambient music. This music is so out of character for Fruits de Mer that Keith Jones elected to release it on their experimental sub-label Strange Fish.

Selected Ambient Works Volume II is the second studio album by Aphex Twin, the pseudonym of British electronic musician Richard D. James. It was released by Warp in March 1994. Billed as a follow-up to James' debut, Selected Ambient Works 85–92, the album differs in sound by being largely beatless ambient music. James claimed that it was inspired by lucid dreaming, and likened the music to "standing in a power station on acid.

Apollo: Atmospheres and Soundtracks is the ninth solo studio album by British ambient musician Brian Eno, released in 1983. It was written, produced, and performed by Brian Eno, his brother Roger and Daniel Lanois. Music from the album appeared in the films 28 Days Later, Traffic, and Trainspotting, whose soundtrack sold approximately four million copies. Two of the songs from the album, "Silver Morning" and "Deep Blue Day", were issued as a 7" single on EG Records.
